About Me

I was born and brought up in the UK. I successfully completed my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Politics in Liverpool before going on to complete a Masters’ in Politics in 1993. In 2003, I moved to Switzerland with my young family. For the next nine years I had the privilege of being able to stay at home and raise my family.

Teaching is a Pleasure!

Born to Teach!

I first got into teaching when a friend asked me to help her son improve his English. Since then, I have never looked back. I’ve achieved B1 level German and successfully completed the SVEB1 teaching course. I am currently employed as a “Special English” teacher at Meilen Secondary School. My role is to provide native and advanced level students with a more challenging syllabus. This involves students being immersed in English literature and poetry with the aim of achieving the B2 certificate.

Teaching Philosophy

To provide students with the right skills and mindset to confidently use English.
To understand the needs of my students and fulfil their aims and objectives by tailoring lessons to individual requirements.
Learning through rich, fun-filled, inspiring and motivating lessons.
Everyone is unique and my aim is to provide a stimulating environment conducive to learning.

Inspiration!

I knew this was my chosen career path, when a non-native student told me “I want to study English as a main subject at Gymnasium”.
The joy of seeing students, whether adults or children, progress, fills me with a deep sense of satisfaction.
And, just empowering students to pursue their dreams to be able to navigate and communicate in a globalised world is so enriching.
